![]() (But, not both have the same nick pattern and are owned by the same person.) The HK Prototype page shows an Antifreeze over chrome casting and lists a red and gold casting with black interiors, but has no images of these later two. Two USA prototypes are show at the HW prototype pages with one noted as being a gold over chrome paint and the other in yellow. Both a notched and smooth tab version are known. The matching Collector's Button is from Hong Kong and features a purple casting image on a yellow background. They also carry a notation that mixed body colors are also common, but no other details on color mixes known. Only the NCHWA has listings of Aqua and Red Spectraflame paint being used in HK and a value assessment in their listings. Hard to Find - Antifreeze (Lime) with green interior and Purple with purple interior Uncommon - Antifreeze (Lime), Aqua, Blue, Green, and Red Hong Kong Spectaflame Production Colors (6). Colors other than purple are noted to be difficult to find and early cars have matching purple interiors and feature painted headlights. ![]() The early HK production runs are noted to be purple and antifreeze with some castings having deep dish style wheel sets. (Note that none of the HK identified castings shown in the referenced resource have the blower style intake in them though.) The side exhaust on the HK car is longer and thinner. The HK produced cars have blue tinted windshields, two piece interiors in various colors with a separate black steering wheel that inserts into the dashboard, blower style intakes (?), chrome wheel sets and four square holes in the base. Hard to Find - Creamy Pink, Yellow (Lime) Uncommon - Hot Pink, Light Blue, (Light) Apple (Green), Magenta, Olive, Orange, and Rose The USA side exhaust is noted to be shorter in length and thicker in height.Ĭommon - Aqua, Blue, Gold, Green, Purple, and Red The USA production cars have the same common details of clear windshield bubbles, one piece interiors in various colors with molded in place steering wheels, dual carburetors atop a high rise style intake, silver wheel sets, and smooth bases. While other referenced photos clearly show open pulley designs at the front of the engines. That same video shows evidence of a closed front pulley design. One shows no carburetors and the other a more rounded blower style intake with a raised hump towards the back end - (it looks more like a small oil pan to me.) Video review of a USA casting being drilled apart in post # below, shows that the engines cannot be mounted reversed as previously thought in this casting as the side exhausts are a part of the engine casting piece as well. Notice is made that all the Silhouettes shown on the referenced web sites show all castings with the two barrel carburetor and high rise style intake design - except two. All castings have a red painted rear tail light area. ![]() They all have small bearing type front wheels and medium sized rear wheel sets. It is thought they were produced through 1970. ![]() The Silhouette was produced in both the USA and HK production plants and all have painted bases that match their upper car body color. Unfortunately, it was reported stolen in 1968 from Bakersfield, California and has not been recovered to date. The fuel injected Buick engine was replaced with a Ford 427. The original Silhouette was purchased by Ford for their Custom Car Caravan in 1963 and toured with the ISCA. His design is based on the 1:1 scratch built all steel car from the (Bill) Cushenberry Custom Shop in 1962. Known as one of the "Original Sixteen" or "Sweet Sixteen" releases of the 1968 Hot Wheels series from Mattel, the Silhouette was designed in house by Harry Bradly in 1966/67. ![]()
